Solar PV Systems
Installing a solar photovoltaic (PV) system on your home can be a great way to reduce your carbon footprint, save money on energy bills, and increase your home’s value. By harnessing the power of the sun, you can generate clean, renewable energy to power your home and reduce your reliance on fossil fuels.
Solar PV systems require little maintenance and can last up to 25 years, making them a smart investment for homeowners. Contact us today to learn more about how a solar PV system can benefit your home and the planet.
Solar PV
How it works
- Solar panels generate electricity from UV lighting even in low light conditions.
- The Inverter changes the current from DC to AC, so that it can be domestically used to power your home.
- Any surplus AC energy, that is not in demand is stored in your battery system for later use.
- Your Import Meter accredits any unused Energy, to and from the Grid.
- The grid can store and distribute your surplus energy. With an Export Tariff you can earn further savings by selling to the grid.

On Roof Solar PV Panels
This is the most common way of installing solar panels to existing building/roof structure. We have access to a range of fixings that will allow us to retro fit solar panels to almost any roofing finish.
- Suitable for pitched and flat roofs and for most roof construction types (tile, slate, metal clad etc.).
- All equipment selected and installed to ensure that your roof integrity remains intact. (100% watertight)
- Allows for both portrait and landscape formatting.
- Is designed and installed to withstand the extreme wind conditions experienced in the UK.
Integrated Solar Panels
GSE In-Roof Mounting Systems allow Solar Panels to be integrated into a roof, for a more flush appearance.
This way if you are considering a re-roofing you could save on tiles, as the Solar Panels effectively replace them.
- Compatible with roof windows, and the majority of Solar Panels.
- Completely watertight.
- Allows for both portrait and landscape formatting.
- Impact and Mechanical Resistant.
Ground Mounted Solar PV Systems
Ground-mounted solar panels are a type of solar panel system that is installed directly on the ground, rather than being mounted on a building or other structure. We have a range of options available for ground mounted systems depending on your requirements including:
- Pile Driven Ground Mount
- Ground Screw / Anchor secured frames
- Ballasted systems
- Double portrait groundmount
- Single Row groundmount
- Bespoke designs
Optimise Your Panels
Tigo Optimisers allow you to maximise the benefits of your Solar PV System.
They work with any Solar panel and inverter, to reduce the impact of shading and module mismatch on a PV system. Only those panels affected by shade, or on a separate roof will need an optimiser added to.
Tigo Advance Monitoring
Tigo’s advanced Cloud Monitoring gives you a real-time overview of your Solar PV System’s performance. Including:
- Module Level Data.
- Real-time and historical performance data for each module.
- Energy Flow of your entire system including any connected batteries and inverters.
- Critical alerts and Potential issues.
- Remote module disconnecting.
- Remote configuration.

A Solar PV System is able to generate, store and power your home or business of 100% renewable energy from the sun. The Photovoltaic Cells or Solar PV Panels collect packets of the suns energy from sunlight, and converts in into Direct Current (DC). This current through your inverter is then changed into Alternating Current (AC) to be used domestically or commercially.
A Complete Solar PV System consists of 7 Key Components.
1. SOLAR PV PANELS
2. AN INVERTER
3. A SOLAR BATTERY
4. A GENERATION METER
5. A CONSUMER UNIT
6. AN IMPORT METER
7. THE NATIONAL GRID
Many customers wouldn’t know this by there are two types of Solar Panels. Solar PV and Solar Thermal. Both utilise the sun’s energy to produce renewable energy, however through different technologies. Solar Photovoltaic or Solar PV panels, turns direct sunlight into electricity, whereas Solar Thermal panels, turns direct sunlight into heat, to provide hot water. In the great debate between choosing Solar Panels or Solar Thermal. Solar PV Panels are currently leading. This is because unlike Solar Thermal Panels, Solar PV can be used to generate green electricity as well as heating your water. This is done through installing an immersion diverter/immersion optimiser, such as the Eddi or iBoost. These Smart Devices are able to detect any excess solar generation, and instead of sending it back to the grid, divert it to heating your water tank. This is a great Solar PV system upgrade, which allows your to maximise your Solar energy usage!
Enquire NowHaving a battery installed makes you more energy independent and reduces your reliance on the grid. However, the system is still grid tied, as any surplus energy your battery storage cannot store will be sent back to the grid. All Solar systems installed by Radiance Renewable Energy Solutions, have the capability to work in EPS mode. This means when the grid fails, you will still have a supply of energy through your home battery storage. If going completely off-grid is something that interests you, check out our fully off-grid systems here.
Enquire NowSouth facing roof tops, benefit the most from a solar panel installation, as they are exposed to sunlight for the longest period of time. They also see the sun when it’s at its highest intensity, meaning that a south facing roof will generate the most solar energy. However, this doesn’t mean if you roof faces another direction you still wouldn’t benefit from having solar panels installed. East and west facing roofs are also suitable for solar panels and will still see a good deal of green energy generation throughout the course of the day. East or West facing installations only tend to loose around 15% of generation. This also doesn’t mean you can’t install a PV system if you have a flat roof. In fact, flat roofs are often ideal as they allow for a more flexible design. This is because, installers can use mounts to angle the Solar Panels so that they are at the optimal angle. Enquire NowYes! Solar photovoltaic (PV) panels generate electricity that can be used not only power your home appliances but electric vehicles too. Solar compatible EV Chargers such as the myenergi Zappi or Project EV, are able to divert your excess solar energy from your Solar PV Panels directly to your plugged in EV. It’s simply, drive off sunshine! If you plan on using off-peak times to charge you car, you’ll need a solar battery to store the solar energy you’ve generated throughout the day.
